I have the education (MBA in Finance) & certificates in Contract Management and Contract Law (FIT & Harvard, respectively). I understand budgets, I am a woman of color who has overcome barriers, I have been recognized by the Governor to serve women in the state on the Commission for Women, as former president of the Montgomery County Commission for Women & former VP of the Women’s Democratic Club , I was intimately involved with leading advocacy efforts for legislation & policy on key issues.
For 35 years, my daily work in the trenches with residents on a variety of social challenges – such as housing, food insecurity, and gender equality – affords me the extra understanding and empathy to vigorously advocate for all residents. As a small business owner, I suffered during the pandemic and know first-hand that adequate infrastructure is necessary to support small business empowerment, foster innovation and advance economic opportunities for all. Last, but not least, Montgomery County’s annual $6 billion dollar budget requires someone like myself who has decades of hands-on experience with detailed financial analysis and small business ownership which will allow me to hit the ground running.
